Harry E. Derr 
(September 20, 1948 - April 12, 2014) 

HARRY E. DERR, 65, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, April 12, 2014 at Via Christi/St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.

Born on September 20, 1948 in Winfield, he was the son of Richard “Dick” Gordan and Viola Ernestine (Boatman) Derr. He was raised and received his education in Winfield where he graduated from Winfield High School in 1964.

Harry was united in marriage to Cecelia Johnson in 1969 and the couple later divorced. He owned H & H Supply, Derr Custom Farming and EchoDales Manufacturing. Harry was employed for the City of Winfield and Joes Carpet. He owned Ultra Sound for over 20 years and enjoyed running sounds and attending festivals

Harry was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Cowley County 4-H Club. He also loved spending time with his family, traveling and volunteering for the Special Olympics.

His family includes:

His sons: Dale Derr and wife Shannon of Winfield, KS; Jimmy Robinson and wife Rachel of Topeka, KS; and Chris Allison of Larned, KS;
His daughters: Echo Vaden and husband Michael of Dexter, KS; Wonder Derr and companion Taylor Beale of Winfield, KS; Beckie Hart and husband Rick of Winfield, KS; and Alberta Dority and husband Kevin of Salina, KS;
His sister: Betty Prewett and husband Dick of Arkansas City, KS;
His grandchildren: Shelbie, Aspen, Kaden, Allyssa, Avery, Cecil, McKenzie, Lakynn, Jacob, Chelsea, Amber and Dallas; and
His 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.

A memorial fund has been established in Harry’s name to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
