EVANSTON, Wyo. - Christopher W. "Spanky" Michael, 51, of Evanston, formerly of Winfield, diedAug. 10, 2001, as a result of an industrial accident.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Evanston Church of Christ. Burialarrangements are undecided.

Friends may call at Crandall Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Church of Christ, 90 Lodgepole Drive, Evanston, WY 82930, or the Arthritis Foundation.

Michael was bornFeb. 20, 1950, in OklahomaCity, to Mary Alberta (Calvert) and Franklin W. Michael. He was raised and educated in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1968.

He spent his early adult years working as a roughneck and a driller on oil rigs in south-central Kansas.

On June 1, 1974, he marriedKathleen "Kay" Lawrence in Winfield. They made their home in Winfield until 1978 when they moved to Evanston. There he worked as a driller on the big oil rigs in the area. He worked in the petroleum industry until his death.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Michael, and a daughter, Carrie Kathleen Michael, both of Evanston; a half-sister, Teresa Sanders, Wichita; and a half-brother, Michael Sooter, Bozeman, Mont.
