Michael Gardner

Michael LeRoy Gardner U.S. Veteran MICHAEL LEROY GARDNER, 65, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 19, 2015 at his home. Born on January 19, 1950 in Winfield, Kansas, he was son of Roy O. and Helen (Vaughn) Gardner. He attended Holy Name Catholic School and later Winfield High School. Michael also graduated Cowley County Community College. He was united in marriage to Vanessa Hurst on March 16, 1973 in Wellington, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Oxford, Kansas. Michael was employed at Sunflower Trailer, Cessna Aircraft and General Electric. Later he worked for B & S Well Service and Montgomery Elevator, where he retired in 2005. Michael was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, woodworking and motorcycles. His family includes: His wife: Vanessa of the home; His son: Craig A. Gardner and wife Nichole of Winfield, KS; His daughter: Michelle A. Bergkamp and husband Steve of Augusta, KS; His mother: Helen Hodges of Winfield, KS; His brother: John W. Gardner and wife Carol of Winfield, KS; His sisters: Christina Gardner Todd and husband Larry of Arkansas City, KS; Cynthia Miller Suttles and husband Bob of Winfield, KS; Mary Ellen Miller Goodwin of Winfield, KS; His grandchildren: Jaedon, Kylie, Neveya, McKenna, Bryson, Jakob, Emerson, Ben and Eli. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Gardner, and grandparents, William A. and Agnes Vaughn Mulcahy. A Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Interment will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Holy Name Catholic Church. A memorial has been established in Michael’s name for Gentiva Hospice. Contributions
