BURDEN - James Irvin Dauber, 54, of Burden, passed away Friday morning, March 25, 2005, while working at his farm.

A memorial has been established at the State Bank in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

James was born April 13, 1950, in Winfield, to Elizabeth Irene (Asbury) and Donald Holmes Dauber. He was reared and educated in the Winfield area and began employment with Cessna Aircraft in Wichita.

On Dec. 2, 1972, he and Bonita Lee Jordon married. They made their first home in Douglass where James co-owned and operated a body shop. The couple moved to Winfield where he worked for Parish Chevrolet. While there, he met Don VanFleet and was later employed by him at Don's Body Shop. During that time, he attended DuPont Paint School in Oklahoma City.

In 1975, the couple moved to Burden where he followed his passion for farming. He farmed several acres around the Burden area. The couple later divorced, and he continued farming with his family.

James valued honesty and devotion to his family. His hobbies include spending time with his family, cooking, telling jokes, collecting toy banks, woodworking, street rods and his dog 'Boy.'

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include a son, J. Patrick Dauber, and Winnette Headrick, Burden; a daughter and her husband, Tia and Kirby Bunch, his mother, Elizabeth Dauber, and a brother, Ronald Dauber, all of Winfield; a half-sister, Judy Edgington, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Kabin Bunch, Ashton Sudduth and Caitlin Sudduth.

Jim was always friendly and a kind person. He was always easily spotted on Main Street in his Corvette!
